Sizzlin’ Summer Circuit – LEAN & MEAN!!!

My once a week class will help you become FITTER, LEANER, STRONGER & help you to reach your health and fitness goals!!

I am running both circuits at Kennedy Club Fitness in AG on Thursday mornings at 6am or 7:05am.  Let me know if you would like a spot!

Here is the schedule: (6am or 7:05am – 2 circuits)

Aug 25th
Sept 1st

**This class is being held on a Tuesday

8 weeks for only $180.00 (Kennedy member) or $220.00(non-member) There will be a free Saturday make-up circuit during this round.  Date TBA!  If you can’t make every workout you can buy a 5 or 10 session punch card (punch cards do NOT expire).

Punch card prices:
5 classes: $112.50 (member) 5 classes: $137.50 (non-member)
10 classes: $225.00 (member) 10 classes: $275.00 (non-member)

The circuit begins with a dynamic warm-up followed by 1 minute heart pumping circuit intervals and rounded out with a few minutes of yoga.  It is designed to lean you down, increase your strength, make you a better athlete & shock your body each and every week.  All fitness levels are welcome!!

Sizzlin’ Summer Circuit – home or gym!!!

Warm-up with a 2 mile run or 15 minutes of alternative cardio
DOWN DOG

3 sets of each “superset” (do 3 sets of each paired exercises)

Single Legged Squats (holding a TRX or bar) x 10 each leg
Push-up / Jump Tuck x 10 (one push-up followed by one jump tuck – jump feet in then out)

RUN or STEPMILL – 3 minutes HARD

Single Legged Roman Dead Lifts – 15 each leg
Pike Push-ups x 15

Seated Oblique Twists w/ 20lb DB x 30 (lighter weight if needed)
Scissor Kicks x 20

RUN or STEPMILL – 3 minutes HARD

DB Bicep Curls in Plie x 15 (pick a weight that is fatiguing by 15 reps)
Plie Jump Squats x 20 (touch hands to ground)

Tricep Skull Crushers w/ barbell or db x 15  (pick a weight that is fatiguing by 15 reps)
Jump Rope x 100

DOWN DOG
DONE!!!

No-bake Energy Balls that WORK!!!

I whipped these for my hubby to take with him when he golfs 18 holes.  He typically takes some type of a granola bar, 1-2 bananas & water but I wanted to make him something HOMEMADE that he loves.  So yesterday he put them to the test and LOVED them and so did the guys golfing with him.  They take 10 minutes max to whip up and you keep them in the fridge in an air tight glass container.

Ingredients:
1 cup gluten free oats
2/3 cup organic coconut flakes
1/2 cup almond butter or peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1-2 tbsps chia seeds or sunflower seeds
Small handful raisins, craisins or a few of both
3-4 tbsps Enjoy Life chocolate chips (these are dairy & soy free)
1 tsp vanilla
Dash or 3 of cinnamon

Mix all ingredients, roll into balls & store in an air tight glass container in the fridge.
ENJOY!!!

My Sister is ROCKING IT!!!


My little sister Erin May has been working her butt off & getting FIT for this Spring & Summer.  She is training for three 5K’s & one 10K!  I wrote her a 12 week workout plan and she is kicking some butt!!!  She works out 5-6 days per week which includes: running (she started with running/walking & is up to all running!), strength training – CIRCUIT – Amy Style, elliptical, hiking & yoga.  She is getting her hot body back (only 3 lbs from her goal/dream weight), but most importantly she is feeling STRONGER!!!  LOVE!!!  She is also working hard in the kitchen.  Her and her 2 year old daughter Ryah drink green smoothies daily, cook all of their meals at home, eat a ton of fruits & veggies and has really worked to increase her daily protein intake.

Keep it up sis – you are an inspiration for a lot of people!!!

Active Family Weekend – LOVE!!!

Beach cruising to Avila, Beach bonfires, Digging up dinner out of our garden (potatoes!) , New Frontiers salad bar lunch at the beach, Golfing, Hiking up Shell, Dinner at Farmer’s Market in SLO & tomorrow we head to Santa Barbara for a beach front stay….What a fun ACTIVE family week!!!

Remember vacation doesn’t have to be “fattening”…  ENJOY the outdoors, soak up the vitamin D, create amazing memories, relax, eat “clean” amazing food & have a cocktail.  LOVE!!!  Totally Amy Approved!

Happy New Year!!!!

2012 is coming to a close & 2013 is right around the corner.  End 2012 right with a kick butt workout & ring in 2013 with a run/hike/walk & 4 x 10 burpee’s.  40 burpee’s will get that heart pumpin’, your energy flowing & your outlook for the new year started on the right foot.

If you have been training with me or know me well enough you know that I don’t like new years resolutions simply because they do not work.  Growing up each year I set my hopes high to stop biting my finger nails…And guess what??  YEP I still do!  Now I have to say I am not as bad as when I was younger (and by younger I mean even into college I was pretty bad) but my nails are not my greatest feature!

When people say to me “I will start Tuesday” those are words for FAILURE.  I cringe & try to explain why they should start NOW – TODAY – and NOT wait for Tuesday.  As they “wait” they let their habits get out of control & when Tuesday comes around the body will fight harder against eating clean & moving.  It will feel like a BIG SLUG for eating 5000 calories of crap & not moving a bit.  Why put yourself through that???!!

So I challenge you to start TODAY by cleaning up your eating & getting in an awesome workout that will fuel your energy for 2013.  It is going to be an amazing year & you don’t want to get left behind by waiting to start…

Baking with Friends – Macaroons!!

Amazing Friends, Laughter, Love, Cocktails & Macaroons = Perfect Saturday!!

Ingredients
1/2 cup almonds
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tarter
1/4 cup organic sugar
1/4 cup coconut

Preheat oven to 275. Process almonds in your Vitamix or food processor (30 sec) into almond flour & set aside. Whisk together egg whites & cream of tarter with electric hand mixer until stiff peaks form or about 5 min. Gently fold in almond flour, sugar & coconut. Put small balls of dough onto baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 min or until golden brown.

Makes 1 batch
Serves 5-6 people
