Get Your Omega 3’s with a dose of Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are a great easy way to acquire your daily dose of omega 3’s and are a great source of fiber. You can easily add 2 tbsps of ground flax to your morning smoothies, soups, salads, cold/hot cereals, non-dairy yogurts and/or homemade muffins, cookies or bread. In order to absorb the nutrients you must grind your seeds. I wouldn’t recommend buying them pre-ground because they could be rancid as you don’t know when they were ground, therefore losing their nutritional value. It is best to buy them whole, grind (coffee grinder or vitamix) enough for 1 week and keep them in the fridge. This will ensure you are obtaining all of the nutritional benefits. If that is too much of a pain for you flaxseed oil is also an option.
